Siem Reap - When Night Falls...

Pay US$3 to the Tutuk driver for a trip to Phnom Bakheng (short distance from Angkor Wat) to see sunset. We left the hotel at 4:30pm, and reach the ticketing counter at around 4:50pm. Note that it is free-of-charge to enter Angkor Wat after 4:30pm. I bought a 3-day pass (starting on 26-Sep-08), which costs me US$40. (If you stay for a week, you may like to pay US$60 for a week pass). To see the sunrise, it is required to trek up the hill (where Phnom Bakheng is situated), which takes around 30 minutes. At the top of the hill, it stands the ruin of the temple. Climbing up the starirs on the temple can be tough, but coming down is even much more challenging. The sunset is disappointing, as it is clouding and we didnt see the sun at all.

Disappointing Sunset - Sigh...

On the way back to hotel, we passed by Angkor Wat which looks stunning when the lights are up.

After a tiring day, it is time to relax and have a good dinner/drink. I bring my camera and headed towards Pub Street (5 minutes walk away), where the restaurants/pubs/bars are located. It is so relaxing, coupled with the cool evening weather, the atmosphere is splendid!
Here are some night pictures of Siem Reap city, in the vicinity of Pub Street.

Road-side Stalls near Pub Street - very tasty local food here!

From Pub Street, you can take a short stroll towards North-West, to the Night Market (5 minutes), where you can buy sovenuirs. You need to BARGAIN here, or else, you will be "ketok"(in Malay).
