I went to the Computer City (电脑城) today. It was an hour bus ride from where we live. Dont think the distance is far (maybe it is about 15 km), but the traffic was really slow, due to the numerous cars on the road. On the return trip, it was even worst, it took us about 2 hours! OMG! I felt that we have wasted so much time on the road, and to made things worst, we are squeezed inside a packed bus with no air-con!
I am so glad that there is no such problem in Singapore. So, Singaporeans, please don't be pampered, and treasure what you have!
Computer City (the Sim Lim Square equivalent) was very packed today! People everywhere. I came across an interesting sight. Outside the shops, along the pavement, were many people sitting there. In front of each of them was a sign stating what service he could offer. It ranged from Carpenter, Electrical Worker, to Water works or Piping. They waited there patiently for someone who might engage their service. What happened if nobody needed their service? It would mean that he had no job today, which implied that they didn't earn money today. Will he able to feed their children/wife/parents at home? That is their life, full of instability!
To all those who are more fortunate:
Do you like your job? Do you like your life? In comparison, do you feel that you are much better off than these people? Don't complain about your job! Don't complain about your life!
Treasure what you have. Don't take things for granted!
