Entrance of WUST

WUST (pronounced as "woo-st") is a acronym for Wuhan University of Science and Technology (in Chinese, 武汉科技大学). I will be teaching in the International School (国际学院) for the next 5 months, first lesson being on 16-Feb-2009 8am!

Orientation
With reference to the above map,

1. The WUST campus is divided into two zones, East Zone and West Zone.
2. The West Zone (西区) (the left side on the above map) measures about 460 m (north to south) x 460 m (east to west). The West Zone is bounded by 旅大街 (on the north), 和平大道 (on the south), 建设一路 (on the east) and 三弓路 (on the west). The lecture theatres, classrooms, offices, student hostels and canteens are located in the West Zone.
3. The East Zone (东区) (the right side on the above map) measures about 460 m (north to south) x 425 m (east to west). The East Zone is bounded by 旅大街 (on the north), 和平大道 (on the south), 建设二路 (on the east) and 建设一路 (on the west). The staff apartments, campus clinic and staff canteen are located in the West Zone.
4. Mr Wong SF is staying in the staff apartment inside the campus, in the East Zone.
5. Mr Ng YK and Wai Tuck are staying in the staff apartments just outside the campus on the north, 武冶小区 (along 旅大街).
   
6. There are restaurants just outside the campus near to where Mr Wong is staying. Our favourite restaurant is 呢喃. There are also shops for selling household stuffs, like detergent, cooking utensils, pails and so on.
   
7. There is a super market at 建二商场, located on the bottom right corner of the above map, at the intersection of 建设二路 and 和平大道. To save the environment, please bring along your own bag. If not, you need to pay 20-30 cents for a plastic bag.
8. In 建二商场, there is also a 24-hour Macdonalds. What's more? There is a gym there, on the 4th level of the shopping centre, I have visited once, nothing in comparison to the gym in Singapore, but good enough if you wish to have a workout. Priced at 588 yuan for 6 months and 788 yuan for 1 year! It is possible to do membership transfer. Hoe Chuan, are you keen to take over the membership from me, if yes, we can share the gym membership?
9. There is a wet market on the north (near to the junction of 建设二路 and 旅大街), but I have not explored yet.
10. At the top left corner of the map, at the corner of 三弓路 and 旅大街, Benjamin (Immersion Programme Batch 1 Student, who came in Sep'08) told me that there are good and cheap food there. I have not explored yet, will do so soon.
